About Naturopathic Medicine:

Naturopathic Doctors are primary care practitioners who identify and treat a wide array of health conditions in patients of any age, using natural therapies. Naturopathic medicine can benefit most health conditions by incorporating the use of dietary supplements, herbal remedies, lifestyle counseling, clinical nutrition, acupuncture and more. Your naturopathic doctor will use a combination of these therapies in order to customize a treatment plan to fit your needs.

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness or disease and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. NDs support and stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself, focusing on prevention and using natural substances and treatments. The primary goal of naturopathic treatment is to address the cause of illnesses, rather than simply treating or suppressing symptoms. In other words, NDs concern themselves with the “why” as well as with the “what” of an illness or disease.

What to Expect from First Visit:

Your first visit will gather a detailed medical history and perform a focused physical exam. During this initial consultation your naturopathic doctor will collect all the information required to make an assessment of your case. Laboratory tests will be used when needed to assist in making an assessment and diagnosis. Patients are encouraged to bring any recent lab work to their naturopathic visit. Naturopathic Physicians are trained in running labtests, however this expense is not covered under OHIP and private labs are used when needed.
